The blade 1095 HC holds an edge very well and is optimum for hunting and skinning use, as well as tactical and military tasks. The steel is very corrosive and will tarnish and turn the blade black when blood and acidic liquids or chemicals get onto the blade. The blade will still work fine, but lose the satin colour when it is new.
